eL (pronounced: L) is an extremely talented band out of West Palm Beach, FL whose album Dye mixed this year. They have a kind of Interpol / Radiohead / Foo Fighters / Ryan Adams / Strokes / U2 / Coldplay / Oasis / Cardigans / Smiths with Rod Stewart on lead vox (at times) vibe. An alternative sound with very strong melodies + hooks. Dye says that Jeremy Clark, eL's singer + guitarist, is the best unsigned songwriter he has ever worked with (and he's worked with some of the best.) Currently, Dye is producing eL's next record, recently cutting basic drum, bass + guitar tracks @ the Hit Factory/Criteria in Miami.

Maria

Taking their name from the robot in Fritz Lang's ground-breaking 1927 science fiction classic Metropolis, Maria embodies the industrial-age culture clash at the center of the film with their combination of heavy guitars, industrial textures, and singing in both English and Spanish. Managed by Union Entertainment Group (Nickelback, Default), Maria draws on a broad spectrum of influences including The Refused, Deftones, U2, Zepplin, Velvet Revolver, Muse, The Music, QOTSA, and Audioslave. Yet, they blend these elements into an aggressive modern rock sound they make entirely their own. These tracks are from the forthcoming album Dye produced with the band + mixed.

John Ralston Needle Bed

"I'd listen to brilliant singer/songwriter John Ralston's music for his lyrics alone, they're some of the smartest I've ever heard, but his music is equaling spellbinding," says Dye. "Needle Bed is one of the most musically satisfying albums I've had the pleasure to mix." Fans of Elliott Smith, Damien Rice, Cat Power + Jeremy Enigk will all feel very much @ home with John's extremely original songs. Needle Bed will be released in April on Vagrant Records. Currently, John is on tour with Dashboard Confessional, and in addition to his solo career he's the singer, guitarist + songwriter for alt rockers Legends of Rodeo whose album A Thousand Friday Nights on MCA was highly praised by critics. Crease Only Human

Post-grunge hard rockers Crease debut on Roadrunner Records did very well featuring the hit singles "Frustration" + "Jenny (867-5309)". These six tracks are from their follow up album Only Human which Dye produced, recorded, mixed + co-wrote. With this CD Crease has gone for a more melodic sound than on their previous efforts while still retaining their signature heavy guitars. Only Human clearly demonstrates Crease is a heavy rock band with no shortage of a great melodies + catchy riffs.
